good afternoon, gorgeous,

i am writing this to you from my balcony. i like to sit in the sun when i write, with my cat, Isis (she followed me home from the park on a cold morning in february, i’ll tell you the story one day, if you like), and a cup of coffee, and sometimes a blunt. i wanted to talk to you directly, my friend, and to say thank you.

i don’t know if you know this, but, you saved my life when you pressed subscribe. imagine being rescued 38 times in a row.

i am sure you have done it before. read something on here, and thought to yourself, “that was good. more please.” and so, you clicked the orange button. i am sure you will do it again.

but when you subscribed to the soulwork newsletter, what you really did, was make me call myself ‘writer’. you made me see myself whole. you vanquished the voice of my nemesis, fear (and she nearly killed me last year, so thank you for that). you said ‘i see you’. to a person who had long ago learned to be perceived without being seen. and so. i want to share a poem i wrote to the sweetest version of myself, that you’ve reawakened in my heart:

Text within this block will maintain its original spacing when publishedFor Little Me

Don’t forget to remember
where you are and where you've been.
Don't forget to savor
all the choices made in sin.

Don't forget forgivness-
how it feels to do and be done.
Don't forget to witness,
Or celebrate when you've won.

Don't forget to stand again
after life has knocked you down.
Don't forget to look within
when you get to asking 'how?'

Don't forget, my baby,
That you're the one to keep.
The only things you may forget,
are those that make you weep.

love y’all. mean it.
